    CARE, in association with Heartsafety Solutions, are offering a series of Health & Safety courses to stud and stable staff.

  • Learning Outcomes
     This course is designed specifically for racehorse personnel and will equip the participant with the skills and  knowledge required to deal with the most common medical emergencies encountered wlthin the industry.

      • Accident Scene Management
      • Casualty  Assessment
      • Bleeding and Shock
      • Burns & Scalds
      • Musculoskeletal Injuries (sprains, strains, fractures & dislocations)
      • Dealing with Spinal Injuries

      • Unconsciousness & Recovery Position
      • Heart Attack & Cardiac Arrest
      • Adult, Chlld and Infant CPR
      • Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
      • Choking

    Duration 1 Day (9:00am - 5:00pm)

     HeartSafety Solutions ‘Emergency First Aid’ certificate valid for 2 years

    Learning Outcomes
     Working in a busy stable or racecourse is rewarding yet challenging, especially when it comes to looking after your  health and safety. This manual handling course has been designed by our Physical Therapist with the needs of  racehorse employees in mind in line with the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 and General Application  Regulations 2007. Partlclpants wlll learn the Importance of looking after their own health within the workplace,  particularly when moving and lifting loads.

      • The anatomy of the spine
      • Common Back Injuries
      • Biomechanics of manual handling
      • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
      • Safe Lifting Techniques
      • Dealing with Unfamiliar Loads
      • Lifting bales, sacks, bags etc
      • Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
      • Back care, fitness & flexibility

    3 Hours

    Learning Outcomes:
    This course is designed to give those working within the racing industry a basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety within their environment, an overview of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 and other relevant safety legislation.
