• Education & Training Grant Programme

HRI, through its Careers and Racing Education (CARE) department is delighted to announce the establishment of an Education and Training Grant programme for professional Jockeys. The grant programme will make a contribution towards the cost of any QQI accredited course that a Jockey may sign up to and is part of CARE’s commitment  to offering assistance, financial or otherwise, to help Jockeys to develop their skills and qualifications for their current role, or to help them prepare for life outside the saddle.

The grant programme will operate on a reimbursement basis. Applicants to the grant programme will be required to apply, enrol, and pay any fees due for their selected course themselves. CARE will then reimburse part of this fee upon submission of the completed application form. The grant will be paid in two tranches: 50% at the commencement of the course and 50% upon successful completion.

There are some terms and conditions, but not too many. For full details you can download the application form here, you can ring Patrick Ryan on 045 455488, or you can email workinracing@hri.ie.

It is never too late to learn a new skill and it can really pay in the long term to acquire additional skills while you are still riding.
